Community Kitchens

Community Kitchens at 1884 Davenport and 729 St. Clair West is our community cooking program, which runs by season to provide the best experience of what is fresher, accessible, and on the budget in Ontario.

The program offers the opportunity for participants to connect with one another, develop food skills, and to celebrate cuisines from all over the world. During each of the sessions, participants, volunteers, and staff gather to prepare and enjoy, all together, delicious and nutritious meals.

What to Expect

Join a Community Kitchen

Throughout the year, The Stop offers free Community Kitchen programs at our sites, where participants prepare a meal together, learn practical kitchen skills, and enjoy eating together in a welcoming environment.

Programs may celebrate different cultures and cuisines, explore healthy eating on a budget, or focus on seasonal ingredients and sustainable cooking practices. All ingredients and cooking equipment are provided.

Community Kitchen sessions typically:

  • Last approximately two to two-and-a-half hours
  • Include all ingredients, equipment, and facilitation
  • End with a shared meal
  • Incorporate practical cooking skills and food education
  • Welcome participants of all skill levels

We offer a variety of workshop themes, including sustainability, healthy eating on a budget, family-friendly cooking, and custom programs.
