The Stop's Programs
Emergency Food Access
We provide reliable access to nutritious food through our food bank, drop-in meals, and Good Food Market.
Our food bank offers fresh hampers including produce, milk, eggs, and whole grains, while our drop-in meals are balanced and culturally appropriate.
The Good Food Market brings fresh, affordable produce and prepared foods closer to home and supports local farmers.
Advocacy Services
The Stop’s Community Advocacy Office is a peer-run hub that provides confidential support, referrals, and guidance to help people navigate systems and access resources related to income, housing, and government benefits.
Services include:
-
Referrals to Community supports (housing, employment, immigration, and more).
-
Debbie Jenkins Tax Clinic (seasonal): Free tax filing support that helps community members access benefits and improve financial stability.
-
Become Your Own Advocate (BYOA) seasonal course: A free in-person course that builds practical advocacy skills.
Community Building
Our community-building programs support well-being and social connection, including perinatal care through Healthy Beginnings, peer-to-peer emotional wellness activities, and hands-on learning in our community kitchens.
Participants gain essential skills, share meals, build friendships, and feel supported in a welcoming environment.
Urban Agriculture
At The Stop, our urban agriculture programs bring people together to grow food, connect with nature, and explore sustainable ways of caring for the environment. Participants harvest fresh produce, learn new skills, and connect with others while contributing to the community.
The Stop's Farmers' Market
The Stop’s Farmers’ Market serves as a year-round gathering place for fresh where people come to access fresh, local, and ethically produced food while connecting with the community.
Participants can meet over 35 local farmers and prepared food vendors, discover seasonal and culturally diverse foods, and directly support The Stop's programs that increase access to healthy food across Toronto.
The market is also a hub for social connection, featuring live music, advocacy tables, and opportunities to learn about sustainable food systems.
